Yesterday (the 13th), the Chiayi District Prosecutors Office (CDPO) was notified by the First Precinct of the Chiayi City Police Bureau regarding a robbery at a local convenience store. The suspect, Wu (male, born in 1966), was accused of brandishing scissors to forcefully rob the store. Treating this violent crime with the utmost seriousness, the CDPO immediately assigned Public Prosecutor Hsiao Shih-yung to direct the investigation.

Following meticulous tracking by the task force, the suspect was successfully arrested at approximately 10:30 AM on the same day at Ximen Street, Chiayi City. Physical evidence, including clothing and a portion of the stolen cash amounting to NT$7,000, was seized.

After interrogating the suspect, Prosecutor Hsiao determined that Wu was highly suspected of committing aggravated robbery under the Criminal Code. Given the gravity of the offense, sufficient factual grounds to believe the suspect might flee or destroy evidence, and a demonstrated propensity for repeat offenses, the prosecutor promptly filed a motion for detention with the Taiwan Chiayi District Court. Following an interrogation by the judge, the court granted the detention order at approximately 10:00 PM that evening.

The CDPO emphasizes that there will be no compromise in maintaining public order and protecting citizens' property. The office will continue to investigate major violent crimes that threaten social stability with swiftness and diligence, thereby building a robust social safety net.
