On the 9th of this month, Prosecutor Chang Chien-chiang of this Office directed the Southern Region Mobile Work Station of the Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau, the Civil Service Ethics Office of the National Police Agency under the Ministry of the Interior, the Inspectorate of the Chiayi City Police Department, and the First Precinct to execute search warrants issued by the Taiwan Chiayi District Court. Searches were conducted at five locations, including the office of a police officer surnamed Ho at the First Precinct of the Chiayi City Police Department, to clarify the details of the case. A total of eight individuals, including the suspect Officer Ho, were summoned or arrested for questioning.

Following overnight interrogations by the prosecutors on the 10th of this month, it was determined that the two primary defendants—Officer Ho and a business operator surnamed Chen—are heavily suspected of violating the Anti-Corruption Act and other offenses. Furthermore, sufficient facts indicate a risk of colluding with co-conspirators or witnesses, or destroying evidence. Finding grounds and necessity for detention, the prosecutors filed a motion with the Taiwan Chiayi District Court for detention and a communication ban in accordance with the law at approximately 1:00 AM on the 11th. Following vigorous arguments presented by the prosecuting attorney in court and questioning by the judge, the motion regarding Defendant Ho was found to be justified. A ruling for detention and a communication ban was granted at approximately 2:00 AM today (the 12th). Regarding Defendant Chen, the court found grounds for detention but deemed it unnecessary, ruling instead for release on a bail of NT$300,000.

This Office reiterates that the integrity of law enforcement personnel is the cornerstone of judicial justice. Adhering to the principle of "neither wronging the innocent nor letting the guilty go free," we will prosecute cases based strictly on evidence and thoroughly investigate any unlawful acts of corruption involving public servants to maintain social justice and the clean image of the police force.
