A severe typhoon caused widespread power outages across various regions. On July 15, 2025, during emergency power restoration efforts in Yizhu Township, Chiayi County, 36-year-old Taipower employee Lee Yuan-Han was seriously injured after accidentally coming into contact with a 6,000-volt high-voltage line. He was rushed to the hospital and placed on ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) to sustain his life. Despite the medical team’s tireless efforts, his family made the heartbreaking decision to end treatment to prevent further suffering and chose to donate his organs in the hope of giving others a second chance at life and continuing his legacy of love.

This morning (July 22), after Mr. Lee completed his final journey of service, Chief Prosecutor Tsai Tsung-Hsi of the Chiayi District Prosecutors Office, along with Lin Wen-Tsun, Chairperson of the Chiayi Branch of the Crime Victim Protection Association, Wu Kuo-An, Chief Clerk of the Prosecutors Office, and members of the association, visited the Chiayi City Funeral Home to offer their deepest condolences and support to the bereaved family.

Chief Prosecutor Tsai, on behalf of Minister of Justice Cheng Ming-Chien and Chairman Chang Dou-Hui of the Crime Victim Protection Association, expressed the highest respect and admiration for Mr. Lee’s bravery and dedication. He stated:

“Despite the continuing typhoon disaster, Mr. Lee remained at his post and risked his life to restore electricity for affected residents. His selfless spirit and extraordinary courage are truly admirable.”
He also informed the family that the Crime Victim Protection Association will continue to offer assistance in legal procedures, applications for crime victim compensation, family rebuilding, and ongoing support in their time of need.

Chairperson Lin Wen-Tsun also shared heartfelt sentiments with the family, saying:

“In the face of disaster, Mr. Lee courageously put the safety of others before his own, contributing silently to society. His spirit moves us deeply. I believe that all sectors of society will remember his selfless dedication.”

Although the storm brought loss, Lee Yuan-Han’s bravery and compassion have become a beacon of light in our collective memory, warming the hearts of many. May he rest in peace. We extend our sincere condolences to his family and wish them strength. Society will continue to stand in solidarity—through concrete actions—with every heroic family who steps forward in times of crisis.
