Prosecutor Hsiao Shih-yong of the Taiwan Chiayi District Prosecutors Office directed the Minxiong Precinct of the Chiayi County Police Bureau in investigating a case involving Defendant Lin and others suspected of unlawful detention and violent assault. Following interrogation, the prosecutor determined that six adult defendants and one juvenile were heavily suspected of offenses including attempted severe injury, attempted murder, and aggravated unlawful detention. The prosecutor filed a motion with the Taiwan Chiayi District Court to hold four of the defendants—Lin, Chen, Wang, and Hsin—in detention with a prohibition on visitation. Upon review, the court determined that legal grounds and necessity for detention were met, ruling that all four defendants be detained incommunicado.

In mid-August 2026, the six adult defendants (including Lin) and the juvenile detained the victim at locations in Dalin Township and Minxiong Township, Chiayi County. Using tools and instruments, they inflicted severe violence and committed cruel acts of abuse, leaving the victim severely injured. Subsequently, they transported and abandoned the critically injured victim on a remote farm road. Fortunately, acting on a report, police promptly located the victim and arranged emergency medical care, averting a fatality.

The Chiayi District Prosecutors Office emphasized that crimes severely violating personal freedom and physical safety—such as violent debt collection, unlawful detention, and physical assault—will face zero tolerance under the law. Facing illegal syndicates that openly jeopardize public order through brutal means, the Prosecutors Office will strictly adhere to the principle of "swift and rigorous investigation" to thoroughly pursue all accomplices without leniency. Concurrently, the Prosecutors Office urges the public to report any suspected instances of unlawful detention or unusual public safety concerns to the police immediately to jointly safeguard social order and public safety.
