Celebrating with the Public to Combat Fraud and Bribery
The annual mega-event, the Taiwan Lantern Festival, held its grand opening today (March 3) in Chiayi. Thousands of lanterns intertwined to create a breathtaking spectacle, attracting crowds from across Taiwan despite the damp, chilly weather. To protect public property and uphold the integrity of elections, the Chiayi District Prosecutors Office set up an outreach booth within the exhibition area. By engaging with the crowd through fun, interactive activities, they aimed to spark the flame of "Anti-Fraud" and "Anti-Bribery" in the hearts of every visitor.
A New Vision for Anti-Fraud: Take Photos of the Lights, But Don’t Click Unknown Links
As digital fraud techniques evolve daily, the Chiayi District Prosecutors Office focused its outreach on common scams, such as fake investments and impersonation of law enforcement. The booth featured a "roll-the-dice" Q&A game to share easy-to-understand prevention tips. The Prosecutors Office reminded citizens that while soaking in the beauty of the lanterns and checking in on social media, they must remain vigilant against suspicious SMS messages or "prize-winning" links. To keep your hard-earned money safe, never click blindly.
Leading the Way to Fair Elections: Let Chiayi Shine with Integrity
Beyond fraud prevention, the Prosecutors Office emphasized the importance of clean elections. Staff provided information on proper reporting channels and the generous rewards available for reporting vote-buying, urging citizens to stick to the principle of "no buying, no selling." Much like a bright lantern piercing through the darkness, the Office stated that only a transparent and fair electoral environment can ensure the election of the capable, bringing hope to the development of our hometown.
Chief Prosecutor Tsai Tzung-Shi stated: "The Lantern Festival represents hope and light. Through this outreach, we hope to show that the law is not just cold text, but a warm light protecting the rights of the people. If citizens encounter suspected bribery or fraud, please have the courage to call our tip line and join us in guarding our beautiful Chiayi."
