Chiayi District Prosecutors Office Investigates Township Office Personnel for Violations of the Anti-Corruption Act
Search Operations Conducted to Safeguard Public Interests and Uphold Political Integrity
The Chiayi District Prosecutors Office, in view of safeguarding the property rights of the people and maintaining the value of political integrity, provides the following statement on a case that has drawn public attention:
-
Prosecutor Chiu Yi-Lin of the Chiayi District Prosecutors Office is investigating township office personnel suspected of violating the Anti-Corruption Act. Under the prosecutor’s direction, the Southern Investigation Division of the Agency Against Corruption (AAC), Ministry of Justice, formed a special task force and applied to the Chiayi District Court for search warrants.
On October 22, 2025, searches were executed at 20 locations, including the residences and offices of nine suspects, including Wu ○○. The suspects and relevant witnesses were summoned for questioning. -
The case originated from intelligence submitted by the AAC Southern Investigation Division, which was then placed under the Office’s direction for investigation. After thorough evidence gathering, investigators found that during 2022, suspects including Wu ○○ allegedly leaked confidential base prices and project information to contractors in exchange for bribes in the course of township office procurement projects.
Following overnight interrogation, Prosecutor Chiu determined that suspects Wu ○○ and Chang ○○ were strongly suspected of committing serious offenses under the Anti-Corruption Act, including seeking illicit gain and accepting bribes, and therefore petitioned the court for detention and incommunicado custody. The remaining suspects were deemed not subject to detention and were released on bail in the amounts of NT$50,000, NT$80,000, and NT$100,000, respectively. -
To ensure political integrity and protect citizens’ property rights, this Office adheres to the principles of “investigate every case and prosecute where evidence exists.” We will continue to take a firm stance against corruption and illegal conduct in order to effectively eradicate corrupt practices.
