Taiwan Chiayi District Prosecutors Office has concluded its investigation and filed indictments in a case involving the cultivation of marijuana. In consideration of safeguarding public health and maintaining social order—and given the significant public concern over the matter—the Office deems it necessary to publicly provide the following explanation:
Prosecutor Jiang Bingxun of this Office directed the Minsyong and Jhongpu Precincts of Chiayi County Police Department, as well as the Criminal Investigation Corps Brigade of Chiayi County Police Department , in the investigation of the defendant, Mr. Li ○○ (male, born in 1995), and others, for allegedly smuggling marijuana seeds into the country, cultivating marijuana, and trafficking the drug. The investigation has now concluded, and public prosecution has been initiated.
Chief Prosecutor Tsai Tzung-Shi of Taiwan Chiayi District Prosecutors Office urges the public to remain vigilant, as marijuana-related offenses have been spreading rapidly across the globe in recent years. Marijuana is known to be addictive, highly subject to abuse, and poses significant threats to both physical and mental health, as well as public safety. Accordingly, the manufacturing, transportation, sale, transfer, and cultivation of marijuana are all considered serious criminal offenses under the law. Even personal use of marijuana constitutes a criminal act. The public is strongly advised not to take risks by violating the law.
Taiwan Chiayi District Prosecutors Office continues to take a proactive approach in investigating and prosecuting drug-related crimes. Through efforts focused on prevention, interdiction, enforcement, and rehabilitation, the Office is fully committed to implementing the government’s anti-drug policies and safeguarding the health and safety of the public.
