Taiwan Chiayi District Prosecutors Office seized the case of a candidate of township representative and a councilor's broker to buy votes in cash

On October 10th ,2022, Prosecutor Ching-Huei Chen directed the Criminal Investigation Corps Brigade of Chiayi County Police Department, Jhuci Branch Office, the Chiayi County Investigation Station of the Ministry of Justice's Bureau of Investigation, and the Chiayi County Task Force of the Immigration Department's Southern District Affairs Brigade to investigate the case in which Ye ○○, a candidate for the Meishan Township Representative in Chiayi County, personally or at the direction of brokers Guo ○○ and Zhong ○○, was suspected of bribing voters with cash at NT$1,000 per vote. After searching, summoning, and interrogating 11 people, the prosecutor told 9 voters to return , and Ye ○○, Guo ○○, and Chung ○○ were jointly involved in violating for the Civil Servants Election And Recall Act.

Prosecutor Hui-xing Wang directed the Criminal Investigation Corps Brigade of Chiayi County Police Department, Puzi Branch Office and the Chiayi County Investigation Station of the Ministry of Justice's Bureau of Investigation to investigate the case of Wang ○○, a broker of a candidate for a member of the fourth constituency of the Chiayi County Councillors, suspected of paying $1,000 per vote in cash to buy votes from voters through neighborhood connections. After being summoned and interrogated by the anti-bribery team, it was found that Wang was involved in the Civil Servants Election And Recall Act , and the crime of voting for bribery was serious, but the detention is deemed unnecessary , and he was bailed out with NT$30,000 , and the prosecutor told all 5 voters to return.
